I agree with yahoo_anwssers…. you'll learn a lot more and faster if you see a real instructor. Also, a good teacher will be able to teach you how to hold the guitar properly and how to play it more efficiently and SAFELY – if you hold or play the guitar improperly, you could actually injure yourself – you could develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or something. I myself started off learning all by myself, with the help of online lessons. But without a teacher to guide me, I had difficulties figuring out how to finger some chords, and after a while of playing, I would always have pain in my thumb and wrist area. When I finally saw a real teacher, in just one session, he taught me how to hold the guitar and play it more efficiently, without hurting myself.. :)

But if you really want some online lessons… or to supplement your studies if you do decide to find a guitar teacher.. here are a few sites:

    http://www.cyberfret.com

http://www.guitarnoise.com – Lots of articles, tutorials and messageboards too

    http://www.justinguitar.com – I found this one just recently, but I'm liking it…

you could also find lots of video lessons on youtube. Best of luck. :]
