Go to Sam-Ash or go 2 Guitar Center. They have alot of cool tutoral books. I went to Marshalls, and i found a great one! But i also got 1 @ Sam Ash and i loved it! btw…. when u wnt some good music… go 2 guitarmasta.net, they're awesome! References :
The internet is your friends dude… you just gotta find some tutorials online or whatever… Youtube has a bunch of them.. I learned the guitar myself too, by using the web.. wasn't that hard..
The first thing you need to do is tune your guitar. There is a whole lot of videos on youtube that will show you how to tune it.
You have a few options as to how to learn to play the guitar. You can get a guitar teacher who will come to your house for like an hour a week and go through a lesson with you. The only problem I found with this is that it works out to be very expensive however you do progress quite quickly.
Another option which is a cheaper alternative is to go for online guitar lessons. A great guitar video lessons series can be found here:

Another great resource is youtube. There are hundreds and hundreds of videos you can filter through to help you learn the guitar.
Just make sure you practice, practice and practice some more.
